A respected and growing Private Client team in Exeter is seeking a talented Associate to support the continued expansion of its high-calibre practice. Known for delivering tailored advice on complex wills, tax, trusts and estate planning, this team acts for high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees and business owners across the South West and beyond.

The Role
You\’ll take responsibility for a varied caseload of private client matters, including estate planning, probate, lifetime gifting, trusts, and inheritance tax. You\’ll work closely with senior lawyers and partners on high-value and often multi-faceted instructions, while also managing your own client relationships. This is a visible and client-facing role, well-suited to someone who enjoys building trust and delivering practical, strategic advice.
You\’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to the broader success of the team-whether through mentoring, involvement in business development or growing your own professional network across the region.
What You\’ll Be Doing
- Managing a broad caseload of private client work, including wills, probate, trusts and tax planning
- Delivering a high standard of client care with clear and commercially informed advice
- Supporting senior team members on complex or high-value estate matters
- Engaging in client relationship building and profile-raising activities
- Helping to drive growth by identifying opportunities for internal collaboration and external referrals
- Contributing to team goals, with full support to achieve your own career development objectives
What They\’re Looking For
- A qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3 years\’ PQE in private client law
- Strong technical experience in wills, probate, and estate administration matters
- Organised and detail-oriented, with the confidence to manage your own files independently
- Commercially aware and client-focused, with a personable and proactive approach
- STEP membership (or a commitment to obtain it) is desirable but not essential
