The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Associate with at least 2 years PQE to join a leading planning team based in Bristol . The team is involved in a wide range of high-profile matters, including large-scale strategic developments, nationally significant energy and infrastructure projects, and contentious planning issues such as enforcement, compulsory purchase, judicial reviews, and appeals.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for managing your own caseload while supporting other teams in the firm on property acquisitions and disposals. You will have the opportunity to work on a broad spectrum of planning matters, including planning obligations, community infrastructure levy, lawful development certificates, and highways issues.

Additionally, you will work closely with clients, providing strategic advice on regulatory matters and assisting with major development projects from inception through to completion.

Who You Are:

  • PQE : At least 2 years PQE with experience in planning law, ideally including residential development and energy-related cases.
  • Experience : You will have gained experience in advising on a range of planning matters, and you are likely to have worked at a national or city firm with a strong planning practice.
  • Skills : You should have strong technical, organisational, and communication skills, and be comfortable managing your own caseload while working effectively as part of a team.
  • Client Relationships : You will have a client-focused approach, demonstrating your ability to build strong and lasting relationships, and show a genuine commitment to meeting client needs.
  • Drive and Motivation : You should be self-motivated, ambitious, and eager to expand your knowledge and expertise within the planning sector.
  • Interest in Sustainability : Given the firm\’s involvement in energy projects, a passion for playing a part in combating climate change and supporting clean energy initiatives would be highly valued.
