We are working with a well-regarded and growing law firm to recruit an Associate / Senior Associate for their Residential Real Estate Team, based in St Albans. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced residential property solicitor who enjoys running their own caseload, building strong client relationships, and playing an active role in the life and growth of a collegiate, forward-thinking team.
The Residential Real Estate Team is established across both the London and St Albans offices, with this role based in St Albans. The team currently comprises two Partners, a Legal Director, two solicitors, a paralegal and dedicated support staff, offering a supportive environment with appropriate supervision and collaboration.
You will manage a full and varied caseload of residential real estate matters from start to finish, with responsibility for client relationships, delivery, and deadlines. The role offers genuine scope to take ownership of work while contributing to the wider success of the department. Work will include acting for landlords and tenants, buyers and sellers, and advising on a broad range of residential property matters, including:
- Sales and purchases
- Development and investment work
- Licences for alterations
- Deeds of variation, wayleaves, options and overage
- Lease extensions
- Refinancing and transfers of equity
You will also play an active role in business development and profile-raising, including networking, attending events, contributing to articles and online content, and supporting the firm’s marketing initiatives.
What They’re Looking For
- 5–7 years’ PQE in residential real estate
- Proven ability to manage a full caseload independently, including demanding clients and tight deadlines
- Strong technical knowledge across the full spectrum of residential property transactions
- Excellent understanding of AML / MLRO regulations, including Source of Funds and Source of Wealth requirements
- A client-focused and commercially aware approach
- Strong billing performance with the ability to win and retain work
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ambitious, driven, and keen to progress within a supportive, collegiate environment
You will also be comfortable:
- Working 4 days in the office and 1 day from home
- Using case management and property platforms such as iManage, Land Registry portal, Lender Exchange, Decision First and Smoove
- Supporting training within the team, contributing to precedent development, and participating in departmental meetings
