A leading Top 25 international firm is seeking an ambitious Commercial Associate (3+ PQE) with experience in IP and technology contracts to join its growing team in Scotland. About the RoleThis role is well-suited to an ambitious and well-rounded Commercial lawyer with a strong interest in technology and IP-driven work. The role will involve:
- Drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide variety of commercial contracts, including technology and outsourcing agreements, SaaS and cloud services, software licensing, and other IT-related arrangements.
- Advising on IP-heavy commercial deals, including licensing, exploitation and protection of intellectual property rights.
- Supporting clients on data protection and information governance issues arising in the context of commercial and technology projects.
- Acting for a diverse client base, from FTSE 100 and other large corporates through to cutting-edge growth companies and public sector bodies.
- Working as part of cross-office and cross-discipline teams on major national and international projects.
- Playing an active role in client relationships, with regular direct contact and opportunities to take on increasing levels of responsibility.
You will have access to structured training, close support from experienced colleagues and genuine opportunities to progress your career within a team operating at the top of the commercial and technology market.
Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- At least 3 years' PQE as a solicitor with solid experience in commercial contracts, ideally with exposure to IP and technology-related work.
- Confidence in drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, and an interest in deepening your expertise in technology and IP contracts.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to provide pragmatic, solutions-focused advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with first-rate interpersonal skills.
- The ability to manage a complex, varied workload independently while working effectively as part of a wider team.
- A proactive, innovative and value-adding mindset, with enthusiasm for working with dynamic, often fast-paced clients.
