The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employment Partner to join the firm\’s leading team in Bristol. In this role, you will be instrumental in expanding the employment practice and raising the team\’s national profile. You will manage and build on key client relationships, serving as the face of the team in the region and driving new business opportunities. The team provides both contentious and non-contentious support to an impressive FTSE 250 client base across various sectors, ensuring high-quality, tailored advice.

In addition to client-facing responsibilities, you will have an important role in shaping the team\’s strategy and growth, working closely with the wider leadership team. Your leadership will include mentoring and developing the next generation of employment lawyers, contributing to their professional and technical development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow key client relationships while driving business development to secure new work for the team.
  • Lead and mentor a team of lawyers, fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Focus on strategic initiatives to grow the employment practice, increasing national recognition and contributing to the firm\’s overall success.
  • Promote the team\’s expertise by attending networking events and engaging in speaking opportunities such as webinars and conferences.
  • Provide strategic leadership in client matters, ensuring a high standard of service delivery across both contentious and non-contentious work.
  • Work closely with internal teams to identify new business opportunities and explore cross-disciplinary collaboration.

What We’re Looking For

  • A legal qualification with 8+ years of post-admission experience in employment law.
  • A strong track record in building and sustaining an employment practice, with a proven ability to generate new business and foster growth.
  • Expertise in both contentious and non-contentious employment law, with the ability to offer insightful, commercial advice to clients.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior lawyers.
  • An understanding of revenue prioritisation and the ability to effectively manage client expectations.
  • An active interest in process improvement and a passion for innovation within the legal profession.
  • A visible profile within the employment law field, with experience in speaking engagements, media, or industry events.
