An award-winning business based in the historical, coastal city of Aberdeen, is looking for an Associate (2-5 PQE) to join their highly ranked L500 Employment team.

You will have the opportunity to work with the best lawyers in Scotland and join an ever-growing team, advising a portfolio of national and international clientele.

Team

Home to one of the most qualified groups of Employment Lawyers in the UK, this team is committed to dealing with the best quality work in the market and supporting their lawyers to develop their technical skills and enhance their careers. Clients express that this company\’s sector knowledge and commercial approach is exceptional, always responding in a clear and timely manner with relevant advice.

The Employment team tackles work across the full spectrum of labour and employment law projects, ensuring you will always have a diverse workload. Examples include advising on strategic Employment law, managing complex tribunal cases, cross-border issues, restructuring, TUPE, redundancy, and senior-level grievances, including discrimination and whistleblowing. Experience in these areas is preferred. Additionally, the candidate will assist clients with M&A and outsourcing, making interest in this work beneficial.

The nature of the firm and its clients means you will be directly contributing to projects that are local to you, as well as of national and international significance whilst developing alongside some of the leading Employment lawyers nationally.

Candidate

It is key that this candidate has solid Employment law experience and strong commercial acumen. Producing high-quality work and being a collaborative team player is something the Employment team is searching for, while consistently understanding the needs of their vast network of clients.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Working closely with clients to overcome their challenges and setting clear intentions of how to move forward.
  • Maintaining relationships with large international organisations, while assisting them in claims, day‑to‑day advice and business negotiation.
  • Ensuring teamwork is a part of your daily working practices.
  • Operating in all areas of employment law like closing contracts, high‑profile recruitment, benefits packages, employee transitions, post‑termination restrictions and rewards to name a few
  • Attending complex employment tribunals and representing clients in newsworthy litigation.

You will have 2–5 years of PQE and a good knowledge of the industry. This is a real opportunity for you to build your professional image within a motivated and strong business in the legal market.
