About You

You will be a disputes specialist with sound technical grounding, strong drafting skills and the confidence to manage a varied caseload.

  • At least 2 years’ PQE (or equivalent FILEX experience) in commercial and civil litigation (experience in both is not needed but a keen willingness to take on a mixed workload is)
  • Strong written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Comfortable balancing your own workload and supporting on complex partner-led matters
  • Practical experience of County Court procedure, pleadings, disclosure and case management
  • Clear, personable approach when dealing with clients under pressure
  • Genuinely enthusiastic about contentious work and developing a broad disputes skillset
  • Interested in BD, networking and building long-term client / referrer relationships

What’s on Offer

You will join a disputes team known for its depth of expertise, breadth of work and highly collegiate culture.

  • Broad, high-quality litigation spanning commercial, insolvency, shareholder and civil disputes
  • Close mentoring and hands‑on training from experienced partners, including solicitor‑advocates and accredited mediators
  • Stable, low‑ego environment with high retention and genuine interest in long‑term development
  • Regular advocacy opportunities and the chance to build confidence in court work
  • Clear exposure to complex, strategically interesting matters as your experience grows
  • Involvement in seminars, workshops and BD activity with support to build your profile
  • Hybrid working, with regular time in the Hertford office to remain integrated with the team
