The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an established Contentious Construction Partner to join and help lead a highly successful and growing team. Based in Bristol, you will have the chance to work on high-profile construction disputes, including claims related to final accounts, defects, and PFI/projects.

Your role will be central to the strategic direction of the contentious construction practice, working alongside respected partners and leading practitioners. You will have access to a diverse and challenging caseload involving a range of clients, from local authorities, NHS Trusts, and housing associations to developers, funders, and contractors.

As a senior leader, you will be responsible for nurturing and extending existing client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and driving the continued growth of the contentious construction practice. A key focus of the role will be engaging in business development activities and ensuring the team\’s continued success. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior colleagues and helping shape the future direction of the team.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • At least 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in contentious construction
  • Proven track record in managing high-value construction disputes and strong client relationships, ideally with a degree of following
  • Strong business development skills and the ability to grow and manage a client base
  • Excellent technical skills, with a commercial and strategic mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-focused environment while contributing to the overall strategic goals of the practice
  • Experience in mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to their professional development
