About the Role:

On behalf of our client, a leading organisation in the aviation industry, we are currently recruiting for a Project Manager who will lead and coordinate the end-to-end delivery of customer programs within an aerospace and defence manufacturing environment, ensuring products are delivered on time, to quality requirements and within budget. The role is responsible for planning and controlling project flow through the business, working closely with production, engineering, procurement, quality and customers to manage schedules, materials, risks, change and compliance in line with contractual and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned aerospace and defence projects from contract review or order receipt through to final delivery, ensuring scope, schedule, cost and quality objectives are achieved.
  • Develop, maintain and communicate project plans, milestones and recovery plans.
  • Use MRP and ERP systems to manage demand, material availability, job progression, capacity considerations and delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate closely with Procurement, Production, Engineering and Quality to ensure materials, tooling, documentation and resources are available.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and build-to-print activities.
  • Review customer requirements, technical drawings, specifications and contractual obligations to ensure accurate planning and execution.
  • Monitor project performance.
  • Manage change control, including drawing revisions, schedule changes, additional customer requirements and associated commercial impacts.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers on assigned projects, providing timely communication.
  • Support commercial reviews to ensure project costs, quotations for additional work, and delivery impacts are captured and communicated appropriately.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Project Manager or Programme Manager role within a manufacturing business, preferably in aerospace, defence or another highly regulated industry.
  • Demonstrable experience managing build-to-print, NPI and production-based projects within a controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of aerospace and defence customer requirements, technical drawings, specifications, change control and quality requirements.
  • Strong project planning, scheduling, stakeholder management, risk management and problem-solving capability.
  • Experienced user of MRP and ERP systems.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to monitor budgets, delivery performance and the impact of change on cost and schedule.
  • PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner qualification, APM Project Management Qualification, or equivalent project management certification is desirable.
  • PMP certification, Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement or supply chain related qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Right to work in the UK.
