Legal Cashier
to join their Finance Department.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous legal accounts experience who is looking to join a professional and supportive team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the firm's finance function, maintaining compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
Key Responsibilities Process and approve CHAPS and BACS payments.
Complete daily bank reconciliations and client/office account transfers.
Process bills, credit notes, write-offs and expense claims.
Reconcile petty cash and credit card statements.
Process direct debits and standing orders, maintaining the relevant databases.
Handle daily banking of cash and cheques.
Process Land Registry, Welsh Water and other search payments.
Complete Stamp Duty payments.
Deal with Legal Aid and Help claims.
Maintain client and office ledgers, ensuring accuracy at all times.
Respond to internal and external finance queries professionally.
Assist with month-end processes and general finance administration.
Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules, anti-money laundering regulations and VAT requirements.
Identify opportunities to improve finance processes where appropriate.
Essential Requirements A minimum of
one year's experience
working as a
Legal Cashier
or within a legal accounts environment.
Good knowledge of
Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs) .
Experience processing CHAPS/BACS payments and completing bank reconciliations.
Strong understanding of client and office accounts.
Experience working with legal accounts software or case management systems.
Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Ability to prioritise workload and work to strict deadlines.
Desirable Experience Experience with client ledgers, disbursements and office accounts.
Knowledge of Legal Aid processes.
Experience working within a busy legal practice.
