JM Selection are currently recruiting for a Supply Planner to join a busy Procurement team based in Cardiff. This is a varied opportunity for an experienced purchasing, procurement or supply chain professional who enjoys working with suppliers, managing purchase orders and maintaining accurate stock and product information. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the supply of products from domestic and international suppliers, ensuring orders are managed effectively and stock levels are maintained appropriately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing the open order book on a daily basis.
  • Chasing suppliers for order acknowledgements, PODs, lead times, pricing and other relevant information.
  • Placing domestic and international purchase orders and managing associated administration.
  • Coordinating shipment plans with international suppliers.
  • Reviewing stock profiles and working with suppliers and Product Managers to maintain the correct product portfolio.
  • Maintaining inventory control procedures.
  • Managing aged and slow-moving stock and supporting quarterly stock rotation.
  • Assisting with the selection and development of service providers, including freight forwarders.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve pricing and purchasing terms.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Reviewing supplier rebates and working towards agreed targets.
  • Maintaining and cleaning vendor records.
  • Completing mass uploads, including monthly price list updates.
  • Gathering supplier information and maintaining product database integrity.

About You

We're looking for someone with previous experience within a purchasing, procurement or supply chain environment. You will ideally have:

  • Previous purchasing, procurement or supply chain experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with international suppliers, freight forwarding, stock management, inventory control or ERP systems would be advantageous.
