Our client is seeking an Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Controller to join their Facilities Management and Real Estate (FMRE) team based in Broughton.

12 - month contract

As an EHS Controller, you will play a vital role in supporting and enabling the business to create an inclusive, values-driven, and engaging working environment - all while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the local FMRE team to ensure appropriate risk controls are in place for their activities and those of service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations concerning the introduction and ongoing maintenance of new plant and work equipment.
  • Review safety management systems of prospective FMRE contractors as part of the pre-qualification process.
  • Conduct EHS inspections on internal operations and service provider activities; support the documentation of formal records and action plans.
  • Provide expert EHS advice for a variety of strategic projects, including feasibility studies and design reviews.
  • Implement processes and conduct compliance audits to ensure adherence to all legal requirements.
  • Ensure all work-related incidents - from near misses to lost time injuries and environmental events - are reported, thoroughly investigated, and followed up with remedial actions.
  • Apply a strong knowledge of EHS requirements related to Facilities Management, including construction and maintenance processes, as well as national workplace laws and regulations.
  • Guide operational management and local safety support teams on best practices.
  • Promote EHS culture at all levels of the organisation.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum NEBOSH qualification.
  • Experienced with liaising with key business stakeholders, and able to build a rapport with the business at this level.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessments, auditing and H&S.
  • Ideally from a facilities management, construction or maintenance background.
