Located at the cutting‑edge Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EPMC) in Wolverhampton, the Technical Services department plays a vital role in supporting JLR’s advanced electrified powertrain production. Within this department, the Controls Engineering team ensures that production systems are robust, efficient, and ready to meet the demands of next‑generation electric propulsion technologies. As part of this high‑performing team, you’ll be at the heart of new product launches, collaborating across departments and with external partners to deliver seamless transitions from development to full‑scale production.
What To Expect
In this key role, you’ll oversee new launch programmes from a controls and engineering perspective, ensuring all new production lines are developed to meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. You’ll also play a vital role in building the technical capability of the wider team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting PTME Controls on new and existing projects, ensuring alignment with EPMC standards.
- Developing and delivering training plans for Manufacturing Operations and vendor teams.
- Providing expert technical support to production and maintenance teams across plant equipment.
- Collaborating with OEMs to ensure compliance with PTME Controls Standards and resolving any issues.
- Designing and maintaining plant process control data networks.
- Contributing to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Need
- Experience in controls engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in leading and implementing control system projects, particularly using Siemens 840D and Step 7 PLCs (Simatic Manager & TIA Portal).
- In‑depth knowledge of Sinamics drive systems and industrial automation technologies.
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills, with a creative approach to technical challenges.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, with a focus on delivering results and supporting collaborative success.
- NVQ Level 3 / indentured apprenticeship in an engineering/manufacturing discipline.
