In this role, you’ll take ownership of designing, building, and operating cloud‑native services at scale. You’ll deliver high‑performance backend systems in Kotlin/Java (Spring Boot), containerise and orchestrate them using Kubernetes, automate infrastructure with Terraform, and develop robust GitLab CI/CD pipelines. Working across AWS and Tencent Cloud, you’ll make smart architectural decisions that balance reliability, cost, security, and speed. This is a hands‑on engineering role where your expertise will directly shape the future of JLR’s advanced data and cloud platforms.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a hands-on position with plenty of scope to make an impact. Key responsibilities will include:
- Design and implement distributed, event‑driven microservices using Kotlin or Java (Spring Boot)
- Build and define cloud architectures across AWS and Tencent Cloud, covering compute, storage, networking, and managed services
- Develop and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate builds, testing, security checks, containerisation, and deployment
- Create robust, reusable Terraform modules to provision and manage Tencent Cloud infrastructure
- Manage and optimise Kubernetes clusters, including autoscaling, resource allocation, security policies, and network configuration
- Deliver end‑to‑end observability solutions with OpenTelemetry, log aggregation, distributed tracing, and actionable monitoring alerts
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a solid background, relevant certifications, and the following key skills:
- Proven professional software engineering background, with experience delivering reliable, production‑ready systems
- Expertise in designing and implementing distributed, event‑driven microservices using Kotlin or Java (Spring Boot)
- Deep knowledge of AWS Cloud services and best practices, including EKS, EC2, IAM, VPC, Subnets, KMS, and CloudWatch
- Hands‑on production experience with Kubernetes, covering orchestration, Helm/Kustomize, and rollout strategies
- Strong Terraform skills, including module design, remote state management, and pipeline integration
- Track record of building and maintaining robust GitLab CI/CD pipelines, with multi‑stage builds, caching, and security scanning
BENEFITS
This role is rewarding in more ways than one. On top of our core offering, you’ll do extraordinary work with amazing people. In addition, you can expect a wide range of benefits:
