The Brake by Wire Lead Engineer will be responsible for supporting the definition, development and delivery of new brake systems, integration of harmonised systems solutions within Chassis Engineering and Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. The Brakes Engineering Team brings together expertise to specify, engineer and deliver braking systems from concept to production that meet customer braking attributes and regulatory requirements. Our mission is to deliver safe, silent and clean braking systems working in close collaboration with Chassis, ADAS and Powertrain departments. Responding to changing lifestyles and mobility trends, we are developing cutting‑edge technology that keeps us at the forefront of delivering world‑class driving experiences our customers love.

What To Expect

  • Systems integration for new braking technologies – investigate and define system logical and physical architecture and be part of the team to coordinate and deliver the new technologies
  • System functional and non‑functional analysis – carry out a range of analysis and investigations of the customer requirements to define the expected system functionality and performance targets
  • System design specification – prepare system hardware and software requirements specifications and develop functional designs, demonstrating how the system satisfies the defined requirements
  • System functional and physical architecture – liaise with architecture teams to maintain alignment with the specified programmes, as well as electrical and physical vehicle architecture
  • Verification and validation – be part of the team that designs and develops system integration tests, lead cross‑functional technical reviews on the systems
  • Undertake physical testing on prototype test properties to verify system and vehicle performance
  • Tools & processes – identify and coordinate the development of tools and processes to support delivery of new braking technologies

What You’ll Need

  • Understanding of brake system development and delivery (V cycle)
  • Quality and robustness techniques and standards such as FMEA, P‑Diagrams, noise factor analysis, and data analysis techniques to support this
  • Experience with requirements and test case management tools and processes, version control, control strategy documentation
  • Appropriate driving licences and experience with vehicle testing and diagnostics
  • Mechanical engineering degree qualified or relevant experience
