What this job involves: We’re seeking a Senior Surveyor specialising in Rating to join our dynamic team in Bristol. In this role, you'll leverage your expertise to provide exceptional rating services and advice to our diverse client portfolio. You'll work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple service lines, delivering innovative solutions that drive client satisfaction and business growth. What your day-to-day will look like:
- Lead and manage business rates appeals for a diverse range of commercial properties, developing robust evidence-based cases to secure optimal outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their unique needs and providing tailored rating advice and strategies.
- Conduct detailed property inspections and valuations to identify rating assessment opportunities.
- Negotiate with the Valuation Office Agency and other rating authorities to achieve favourable results.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for clients, explaining complex rating matters in clear, accessible terms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated property solutions, embracing our culture of collaboration locally and globally.
- Mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge and supporting their professional development.
Required Qualifications:
- MRICS qualification with knowledge of business rates.
- Between 2 and 5 years' post qualification experience.
- Demonstrate successful use of the CCA process and settling challenges by negotiation.
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation, case law and valuation methods.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Build and maintain client relationships.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Proficiency with property database systems and relevant software.
- Previous experience in a client-facing professional services environment.
- Commercial awareness with business development capabilities.
