An opportunity has arisen for a Building Surveyor to join our Building Consultancy department in Birmingham. The team deals with a range of investor clients, including Mileway, Hammerson plc, Aviva, Legal & General, RLAM, RailPen, and Aberdeen Standard Investments, and corporate occupier clients such as Barclays and Bunzl. The successful candidate will join a busy regional office and work alongside other internal departments such as Investment, Agency, Managed Services, Valuations, Lease Advisory, Planning and Rating, providing holistic, commercial advice to our clients.
We are looking for an outward‑looking, all‑rounder Building Surveyor with a sense of team spirit and an ambition to deliver excellence.
What This Job Involves- Undertaking Building Surveyor inspections and preparing reports
- Preparing specifications for, and administering, repair and refurbishment contracts
- Preparing and negotiating schedules of dilapidations and exit strategies
- Preparing planned preventative maintenance plans
- Undertaking building reinstatement cost assessments
- Assisting with coordination of portfolio instructions and undertaking other duties as required
- Making sustainable business links with external and internal clients and offering a professional and excellent client service at all times
- Some travel will be required
- Ability to work within a team and on own initiative
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and self‑motivated
- Strong verbal and numerical skills, and comfortable with report writing
- Excellent time management and general organisational skills
- Flexible and able to work under pressure
- Well presented and excellent communication skills
- MRICS (building surveying) with proven experience, preferably PQE in a commercial consultancy
- Experience with AutoCAD an advantage
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Clean driving licence
