The Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Operator is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of equipment and processes involved in the treatment of wastewater. This role ensures compliance with environmental regulations and company standards while optimizing plant performance.

The person will be required to monitor the system from factory outfeed, including wet well and screen, levels of balance tanks through to treatment in the DAF Plant and discharge to Sewer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation and Monitoring:
    • Operate and monitor all equipment and processes within the effluent treatment plant.
    • Perform regular inspections to ensure equipment is functioning correctly and efficiently.
    • Organise waste collections.
  • Sample Collection and Analysis:
    • Collect samples of wastewater at various stages of treatment.
    • Conduct routine tests and analyses to monitor water quality, chemical levels, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Perform routine maintenance on plant equipment, including pumps, valves, and chemical dosing systems.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues to minimise downtime and maintain optimal performance.
    • Liaise with site engineering as required during breakdowns.
  • Record Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate records of plant operations, including flow rates, chemical usage, and maintenance activities.
    • Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure all operations comply with environmental regulations and health and safety standards.
    • Participate in safety training and emergency response drills.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other plant personnel, including engineers and maintenance staff, to improve processes and address operational challenges.
    • Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Competences required:

  • Previous experience in wastewater treatment or a related field is an advantage.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
