Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to provide comprehensive electrical and mechanical maintenance services for a prestigious office building in central Cambridge. This mobile role requires a proactive professional who can deliver high-quality technical support while maintaining the operational excellence expected in a high-profile commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance on electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, and building services equipment.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests and electrical faults, diagnosing issues efficiently and implementing effective solutions.
  • Utilise mechanical knowledge to support HVAC systems, pumps, motors, and other building plant equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work completed, including test certificates, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Liaise professionally with building occupants, property management teams, and external contractors as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical safety regulations, building codes, and company procedures.
  • Participate in emergency response procedures and out-of-hours call‑out rota as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for system improvements and energy efficiency enhancements.

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent electrical qualification.
  • Current 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification (BS 7671).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in building services and plant maintenance.
  • Proven experience in commercial building electrical systems and fault‑finding.
  • Valid UK driving licence for mobile working requirements.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills for professional client interaction.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for planned maintenance activities.

Desirable Requirements

  • Additional certifications such as PAT testing, emergency lighting, or fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with BMS (Building Management Systems) and controls.
  • Previous experience in high‑profile commercial or corporate environments.
  • Mechanical qualifications or demonstrable HVAC knowledge.
