We are seeking an exceptional Multi-skilled Engineer to join our Life Sciences Real Estate Management Services team, supporting a critical new transition account across the UK. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape operational excellence from the ground up, working with cutting-edge life sciences facilities while ensuring seamless service delivery during the critical client onboarding phase. As the technical backbone of mission‑critical pharmaceutical and biotechnology facilities, you will ensure optimal performance of complex building systems while maintaining the highest regulatory compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities & Job Scope
- Technical Engineering Excellence
- Maintain and optimize sophisticated air handling systems, including cleanroom HVAC, temperature/humidity controls, and differential pressure monitoring critical to pharmaceutical operations.
- Oversee power distribution, emergency backup systems, UPS management, and specialized lighting systems for laboratory environments.
- Manage compressed air systems, pure evolution water (WFI) systems, steam systems, and specialized manufacturing equipment support.
- Develop and execute comprehensive maintenance schedules ensuring 99.9%+ uptime for critical systems.
- Provide 24/7 technical support and rapid response capabilities for system failures or anomalies.
- Life Sciences Compliance & Validation
- Ensure all facility operations meet Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and support regulatory inspections.
- Maintain ISO 14644 classified environments, including particle monitoring, airflow verification, and contamination control.
- Assist with Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) protocols.
- Maintain detailed logs, calibration records, and change control documentation per FDA/EMA requirements.
- Conduct facility risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for operational continuity.
- Transition Account Management
- Lead technical due diligence and documentation for newly acquired facilities.
- Develop and implement SOPs tailored to each facility's unique requirements.
- Establish relationships with local suppliers and service providers across all four countries.
- Implement JLL’s proprietary facility management systems and IoT monitoring solutions.
- Establish baseline KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Multi-Country Operations
- Navigate diverse regulatory environments and business practices across EMEA.
- Ensure adherence to country-specific health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Build relationships with local teams, client representatives, and regulatory bodies.
- Mentor local technicians and ensure consistent service delivery standards.
Required Qualifications
- Education & Professional Development
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification).
- Professional Engineering certification preferred (e.g., CEng, EUR ING, or local equivalent).
- Life Sciences facility management certification (ISPE, ASHRAE, or similar) highly desirable.
- Ongoing professional development commitment in pharmaceutical engineering trends.
- Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years in multi-disciplinary engineering roles within life sciences, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology facilities.
- Minimum 3 years experience in facility management or real estate services.
- Proven track record in account transitions, system commissioning, or facility startups.
- Experience working across multiple European countries preferred.
- Background in regulated environments with inspection readiness experience.
- Language & Communication
- English: Fluent (written and verbal).
- Strong technical writing skills for documentation and reporting.
