Are you interested in engineering and ready to step into a client side management role, using your technical knowledge to orchestrate world class building and engineering performance? This individual is bright and ambitious, ready to join our team as the intelligent client, the crucial link between our building's strategy and the specialist contractors who deliver it.

Under the mentorship of the Senior Engineering Manager, you will learn to manage, challenge, and direct our expert service partners. Your role is not to hold the screwdriver, but to ensure the people who do are delivering exceptional value and innovation. You will translate complex data into performance conversations and hold contractors accountable for results whilst maintaining information and a safe and compliant approach. This is the ultimate foundation for a career in technical management and strategic property leadership.

You will provide technical assurance to the managing agent. Ensure every engineering decision and maintenance intervention contributes to creating an environment where occupiers thrive, systems excel, and our building continues to set new standards for operational brilliance in commercial real estate.

What your day to day will look like:

  • Planning & Execution: Review high-level and detailed contractor performance dashboards to identify trends and anomalies for discussion from a client perspective. Provide regular feedback to the contractor on performance communicating improvement opportunities. Issue combined team performance reporting for senior leadership to understand building performance data metrics. Work with specialist service partners on areas requiring deeper investigation and formal reporting. Ensure that all engineering information is up to date and structured in a way that supports a data led environment.
  • Health & Safety: Manage the day-to-day operation of the Permit to Work system, from issuance to closure from an engineering perspective. Conduct a schedule of on-site safety audits to ensure contractors are adhering to their approved RAMS and provide due diligence as part of the managing agent oversight. Investigate all incidents from an engineering perspective and build a programme of continuous improvement.
  • Budget & Financial Management: Produce the monthly analysis of service partner cost reports against the budget, providing variance commentary. Ensure the end-to-end purchase order process for the engineering team is well reported on from creation and approval to final reconciliation against invoices is accurate and timely.
  • Governance: Coordinate the engineering statutory compliance programme for the engineering team ensuring data is available and meets expectations. Ensure a full set of Risk Assessments are fully maintained for the Engineering function. Ensure all contractor certification is received, validated, and filed correctly post-inspection.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as a point of contact for all day-to-day communication with technical service partners and consultants. Ensure engineering matters are communicated to occupiers and all other stakeholders in a timely manner working with the operations and culture team to ensure they meet the required standards. Manage the flow of information between project teams and M&E contractors, ensuring alignment during change works and ongoing engineering operations.
  • Resource Optimisation & Service Partner Leadership: Schedule monthly technical performance meetings with service partners. Ensure reports fully report on performance using specific measures and include labour. Manage contractor performance against contractual SLAs and KPIs, issuing formal notifications of performance.
  • Innovation & Future Planning: Actively seek emerging Engineering and smart building solutions for their commercial viability and potential ROI. Support the development and writing of business cases for technology pilot projects.
  • Sustainability: Interpret high-level and detailed energy reports from the building and ensure the data accuracy and timeliness of the reports. Support the SEM engaging with occupiers to optimise their consumption. Ensure each of the service partners delivers on their ESG commitments, ensuring waste is kept to a minimum.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Good Basic Education.
  • Experience of Maintenance Delivery or Engineering Principles.
  • Genuine Interest in developing a career in Engineering.
  • Highly organised and structured in approach to work.

Desirable:

  • Engineering Qualification or working towards an Engineering Qualification.
