As the post holder, you will be expected to have an extensive understanding of Critical Facilities/Data Centre infrastructure (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & associated assets). As a member of the engineering shift team, you will be responsible for effective inspection, operation, and maintenance of all associated assets within the critical facility, with a primary focus on risk management and enhancing service quality through effective leadership of the shift team.

You will ensure the conduct of personnel under your control is safe, professional, and conscientious. You will attend site meetings with the client and on behalf of the client as requested. You will promote a Safety-First culture throughout the team, leading by your knowledge of safe systems of work and compliance.

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the M&E Engineer:

  • Operate all MEP systems within the Critical Facility/Data Centre confidently, including MV/LV Electrical isolations/operations.
  • Make recommendations for improvements and provide technical reports when required.
  • Ensure efficient completion of specialist vendor service visits, inspecting work quality and communicating recommendations to the JLL FM team and Account Manager.
  • Maintain minimum staffing arrangements.
  • Accurately report all work completed, including critical spares/stock used, utilizing the Corrigo platform.
  • Review and prepare MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs, and participate in relevant drills.
  • Complete weekly reports, noting significant events or activities for the JLL FM team.
  • Participate in health and safety activities, including hazard reporting and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure compliance with JLL MEP processes and procedures, with risk management documentation in place for critical works.
  • Liaise with supply chain for M&E component orders.
  • Undertake site-specific technical assessments and skills gap analyses.
  • Take ownership of areas under JLL control, maintaining them to show site standards.
  • Complete work orders efficiently within SLA.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Critical Environments such as Banking HQ and Data Centres.
  • LV Authorized Person (Bonus).
  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or similar.
  • C&G Pts. 1 & 2, or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition IEE Wiring and Installation (training available if only 17th Edition).
  • C&G 2391 test and inspection; BS 7671:2001 for inspection, testing, and certification.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact at all levels.
  • Proactive approach to high standards of operation.
  • Good IT and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, remaining calm and delivering services within time constraints.
