Responsibilities include providing professional support to the projects/engineering side of the business with a good understanding of CDM2015, conducting inspections, and collating comprehensive reports for the leadership team to report through to board level. Environmental management and reporting on aspects and impact registers, as well as building up a satisfactory environmental management system, are essential. Practical experience of all aspects of environmental legislation and requirements is crucial for reporting purposes.

The role involves driving forward improvements and best practices in safety, health, and environmental issues across the Integral Group. This includes delivering bespoke training in all aspects and examining behavioural safety to influence a change in culture. It is important to ensure that the Integral H&S Culture remains positive and proactive.

Key tasks include:

  • Analysing statistics and developing a plan for the sector to reduce TRIR and DART.
  • Ensuring targets align with company and JLL objectives.
  • Carrying out site safety audits across business units to ensure adherence to H&S standards in line with legislation and Integral standards.
  • Developing a remote audit/inspection methodology for the sector.
  • Monitoring completion of mandatory and core training within respective business units.
  • Identifying and preparing bespoke training for business and national use.
  • Providing expertise and support to the business unit team while driving safety forward.
  • Identifying and controlling key operational risks, including whole building risk areas.
  • Communicating effectively with all levels from the head of sector to engineers.
  • Working with the Integral Procurement team to vet sub-contracting partners and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Collaborating with the National Director of HS&E on sustainability and safety plans.
  • Interpreting new HSE legislation and guidance, preparing new processes with the national HS&E team.
  • Administering the Integral Reporting of Accidents, Occupational ill health, and Dangerous Occurrence system.
  • Formulating accident, incident, and occupational ill health management information for meetings.
  • Undertaking investigations into incidents and accidents to ensure lessons are learnt.
  • Producing an annual audit and inspection regime for the business unit.
  • Active involvement in planned and ad-hoc HSE meetings, including client meetings.
  • Preparing work locations for external and internal ISO14001, 9001, and 45001 audits.
  • Closing out actions identified in audits in a timely manner.
  • Providing timely information for management and board reports.
  • Completing safety and environmental project work as identified by the Head of HS&E and National Director of HS&E.

The National HSE Manager (projects and engineering services) will report directly to the National Director of Health, Safety & The Environment. The role will be predominantly home-based with travel to office and sites as required. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working alongside project delivery in live environments and a good knowledge of construction working practices.

Qualifications include:

  • Member of IOSH or equivalent (working towards Chartered).
  • NEBOSH - General or Construction certification or equivalent.
  • IEMA qualifications in Environmental management.
  • Engineering/project background.
  • Accident/Incident investigation trained (root cause analysis).
  • Good knowledge of key H&S legislation, particularly CDM.
  • Good communication skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Internal Auditing of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001.

Desired qualifications include:

  • First Aid Certificate.
  • PTS Qualified (with current medical certification).
  • Basic Scaffold Inspection.
  • Asbestos Awareness.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical.
  • CSCS / Prince 2- Project Manager (Construction).
