Overview

In this role you will work on a major UK investor account that has approximately 150 properties.

As a member of JLL’s UK Property Management Sustainable Operations team you will undertake energy and sustainability related tasks across themes such as energy, water, waste and biodiversity.

Your work will involve collaboration with a designated sustainability lead, a data analyst, and other cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the PM Sustainable Operations team to deliver a broad range of energy and sustainability services.
  • Support all aspects of the account sustainability scopes and lead certain activities under guidance of the account sustainability leads.
  • Take an active role in large‑scale building performance improvement and net‑zero carbon programmes – track activities, engage with asset, facility and property managers.
  • Proactively highlight energy optimisation opportunities to facility managers and focus on priority assets for net‑zero interventions and EPC/MEES risk mitigation.
  • Engage in wider team activities including meetings, task groups, and represent the team in industry groups such as UKGBC, BBP or the Managing Agent Partnership.
  • Support development, implementation and continuous improvement of all sustainability activities across the client’s real estate portfolio.
  • Perform energy/water meter mapping, waste analysis and EPC/MEES risk management across all tenanted units.
  • Gather supplier Scope3 emissions data for managed assets.
  • Build rapport with property, facility and asset managers to discuss sustainability matters and drive improvements.
  • Work with suppliers (e. g. waste, biodiversity) to develop collaborative partnerships improving holistic performance.
  • Ensure sustainability data platforms are accurate and complete (Scope1‑2 landlord data and Scope3 tenant energy data).
  • Analyse data to identify variances, optimisation opportunities and support sustainability reporting and benchmarking.
  • Drive automation solutions where possible (e. g. automated metering, partnership with innovative suppliers) to reduce manual tasks.
  • Track and communicate success stories to maintain a high level of engagement with the overall energy and sustainability programme.
  • Identify opportunities for new prop‑tech and innovations applicable to the portfolios and liaise with stakeholders on implementation.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in environment, sustainability, science, engineering or a related field.
  • Experience delivering sustainability services to real estate and corporate clients.
  • Excellent project and time‑management skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Analytical skills for handling large datasets and presenting findings.
  • Strong presentation and reporting skills.
  • Firm understanding of key sustainability issues in real estate – energy, decarbonisation, circularity, biodiversity, water, waste.
  • Pro‑active “can do” attitude and collaborative growth mindset.
  • Passionate about working towards a sustainable future.
  • Good working knowledge of sustainability data management platforms and high proficiency in Excel (medium/high confidence).
  • Ability to process sustainability data (energy, water, waste) to benchmark buildings and identify opportunities.
  • Knowledge of sustainability bodies (e. g. UKGBC, BBP, CIBSE, NABERS) and relevant guidelines/frameworks.
  • Understanding of green building certifications.
  • Basic understanding of how buildings work (e. g. building services) to support effective conversations around energy & carbon.
  • Experience developing and delivering net‑zero carbon roadmaps/trajectories.
