As an Apprentice Health & Safety Advisor, you'll gain hands‑on experience while learning from our experienced team. This apprenticeship offers structured training, mentorship from professionals, and practical experience across diverse sites and projects, allowing you to earn a recognised qualification.
Responsibilities
- Support health and safety compliance audits and inspections at company and customer premises, learning how to assess workplace safety, identify risks, and ensure compliance with relevant processes, procedures and regulatory standards.
- Assist with the investigation of incidents, near misses and customer complaints in accordance with company processes, helping identify root causes and contributing to corrective action plans.
- Support the maintenance, development and implementation of Hall & Kay Fire Services’ standard operating processes and procedures, ensuring their continued effectiveness and learning how health and safety systems operate in practice.
- Work alongside managers and site contacts to discuss audit findings, assist with implementing corrective actions, and liaise with client sites regarding inspections and meetings.
- Learn about third‑party certification requirements by supporting audits and liaising with certification bodies, gaining insight into accreditation processes and helping develop practical solutions where requirements and business needs intersect.
- Contribute to developing an effective audit and inspection programme while building technical expertise and professional competence through structured learning and real‑world application.
- The apprenticeship is a Level 3 Safety, Health & Environment qualification delivered online. When not studying, work alongside experienced Project Managers to deliver real project engineering tasks.
- You may be expected to travel across a geographic region, manage your time and commitments to complete assignments, and support additional activities such as project site assessments, documentation, technical surveys and coordination activities. This will provide valuable hands‑on experience across the full spectrum of project delivery.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including a grade 5 in Science.
- Competent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- Good attention to detail and ability to produce accurate written reports.
- Proactive, problem‑solving mindset.
- Willingness to learn and develop technical health and safety knowledge.
- Ability to work independently once trained, using your own initiative.
- Flexibility to travel regularly across the UK to attend Hall & Kay sites.
- Positive, professional attitude and commitment to representing the company image through excellent conduct.
- A genuine interest in developing a career in health and safety within the construction/sprinkler industry.
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years old.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: £22,000 per annum.
- 24 days holiday plus bank holidays, with an option to buy an additional 5 days.

- 36.5 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 8:45 – 16:40, Friday 8:45 – 16:00).
