Summary of Role

As Apprentice Electrical Engineer you will work under the supervision of experienced electrical and building professionals to learn the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting across a range of electrical equipment.

What you will be doing

  • Assist electrical engineers with the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems in commercial buildings.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including routine inspections and testing of electrical equipment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical faults and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and recommend process improvements.

Desired Skills, Qualities, and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above. A grade 5 in Maths and Science is required for this role.
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about a career in engineering.
  • Eager to develop new skills and knowledge in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Good level of Attendance, self-discipline and time management. Meeting deadlines, managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • There is a minimum age requirement of 18 years old.
  • Full UK Driving Licence – A Company Vehicle will be Provided.

About the apprenticeship

You will be studying towards a Level 3 Electrical Apprenticeship at JTL College, Birmingham, B6 5RQ. When not studying, you will work alongside our experienced team. You may be expected to travel to different sites within a geographical region. You will need to manage your time and commitments well to ensure that you are able to complete your assignments whilst delivering a highly valued role.

In addition to developing your core engineering skills, you will be expected to support diverse and general maintenance activities across our facilities as part of JLL's comprehensive Total Facilities Management (TFM) service delivery. This may include routine inspections, basic repairs, equipment servicing, and assisting with preventive maintenance schedules. These responsibilities will provide valuable hands-on experience across the full spectrum of facilities management while contributing to overall operational efficiency and will complement your technical development as you progress through the apprenticeship program.

Important Information:

  • GRADES: You will be required to provide your GCSE Grades prior to selection for the Assessment Centre & Interview.
  • The assessment centre for this programme will take place on Tuesday 2nd July in Birmingham.
  • Role Start Date: September 2026.
  • Location: On-site – Birmingham, GBR.
