JLL is seeking an experienced M&E Technician to join our Workplace Management team, delivering exceptional facilities services at a prestigious client site in Shoreditch. You will be responsible for the maintenance, operation, and ongoing performance of all mechanical and electrical building systems, ensuring optimal functionality and minimal disruption to occupants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Operations
    • Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC, lighting, small power, UPS systems, and building management systems (BMS).
    • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and building system alarms, diagnosing faults and implementing effective solutions.
    • Carry out routine inspections of plant rooms, risers, and distribution boards to identify potential issues before they escalate.
    • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, work orders, and system performance data using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Maximo or similar platforms.
  • Client Service & Communication
    • Serve as a visible, approachable point of contact for building occupants regarding M&E matters.
    • Liaise effectively with the client, colleagues, and contractors to coordinate maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
    • Attend client meetings and provide technical input on building performance, improvement initiatives, and planned works.
    • Demonstrate JLL's commitment to service excellence through professional conduct and proactive problem-solving.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation including CDM Regulations, PUWER, and LOLER.
    • Undertake risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for all works.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory requirements affecting building services, including BS 7671 (18th Edition), Gas Safety Regulations, L8 water hygiene compliance, and pressure systems regulations.
    • Support the site management team in coordinating statutory inspections including annual electrical testing, gas safety certification, and emergency lighting testing.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to improve building performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort in line with sustainability objectives.
    • Contribute to carbon reduction initiatives and utility optimisation programmes.
    • Assist with minor improvement projects and system upgrades as directed by the Engineering Manager or Helpdesk Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential
    • Recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualification (City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ/SVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent).
    • Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018) certification.
    • Inspection and Testing qualification (C&G 2391 or equivalent).
    • Proven experience in a building services or facilities maintenance role, ideally within commercial office environments in Central London.
    • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities across M&E disciplines.
    • Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and CMMS platforms.
  • Desirable
    • Experience working on high-specification or Grade A office buildings.
    • Knowledge of BMS platforms (Trend, Tridium, Schneider, Honeywell, or similar).
    • Additional certifications such as Legionella awareness training, F-Gas Category 1 certification, or PAT testing.
    • IOSH Managing Safely or similar H&S qualification.
    • Driving licence (if applicable for multi-site support).
