What this job involves: The Account Global Engineering and Critical Environment Lead is responsible for overseeing engineering and critical environment operations for a global the client account. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, critical environment management, and a strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional service to the client. The Global Engineering Lead will serve as the primary point of contact for engineering-related matters and will work closely with global and regional account management & WE&O and the Client Engineering Manager to ensure client satisfaction and operational excellence. What your day-to-day will look like: Engineering Leadership: Lead a team of engineers both internally and externally to deliver high-quality engineering services for the client account, considering both HSBC requirements as well as industry best-practices & new innovations. Critical Environment Management: Ensure critical environments, such as data centres are operating optimally and meet client-specific requirements, especially up-time and other operational KPIs as detailed in our contract with HSBC. Compliance and Regulation: Stay updated with industry best practices, standards, and regulations to ensure operational compliance and mitigate risks. Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong relationships with key client stakeholders to understand their needs, anticipate requirements, and deliver innovative solutions. Project Management: Coordinate and execute engineering projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints. Budgeting and Cost Control: Manage the engineering budget for the client account, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize resource allocation. Performance Monitoring: Implement performance metrics and KPIs to track and improve engineering service delivery. Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors and service providers, overseeing their performance and ensuring contractual obligations are met. Team Development: Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to the engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment for all team members. Desired or preferred experience and technical skills: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred. Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable. Proven experience (8+ years) in global engineering management and critical environment operations, including data centres and trading floors. Deep knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, HVAC, power, and fire protection systems. Strong project management skills with experience leading complex engineering projects from planning to execution. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, stakeholders, and team members. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve complex engineering issues. Proficiency in using engineering software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and energy modelling software. In-depth understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations, such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and local building codes. Ability to travel internationally, as required. Able to influence senior engineering and non-engineering stakeholders as well as communicate effectively to both operations and engineering personnel tasked with carrying out the engineering programme on the HSBC account. As not all of these staff report directly to the Engineering lead, experience leading successfully in a matrixed environment and a demonstrated capability to identify gaps in execution and remediate those working across a global & regional matrix is a requirement.
