Overview
Residential Support Worker – Children\\\’s Learning Disabilities at JLL Living | Poland. Based at SuperCare\\\’s residential children\\\’s home in Eastbourne. The role supports young people with severe learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, epilepsy, and communication difficulties. Some are non-verbal; others use PECS, Makaton, and visual supports. You\\\’ll support daily life with structured routines, sensory regulation, and close supervision. You may encounter behaviours; a trauma-informed approach is required to help them feel safe and understood.
What You\\\’ll Do
- Support young people with autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and severe learning disabilities.
- Provide full assistance with personal care, medication, and hygiene routines.
- Encourage and model daily routines such as eating, dressing, and toileting.
- Use non-verbal communication tools (PECS, Makaton, visual timetables) to help them express needs.
- Respond to behaviours such as spitting, biting, hitting, or inappropriate touch calmly and safely.
- Support sensory regulation and encourage positive play and outdoor activities.
- Maintain structure and contribute to a consistent, safe environment.
- Drive young people in and out of the community for activities, appointments, and trips.
What We\\\’re Looking For
- Experience with autism, ADHD, and severe learning disabilities.
- Skilled in non-verbal communication methods such as PECS and Makaton.
- Knowledge of sensory needs and positive behaviour support (PBS).
- Training or willingness to train in epilepsy awareness, self-harm support, and Team Teach.
- Experience in personal care, medication, and hygiene support.
- Physically able to respond quickly and engage in active support.
- Calm, consistent, and trauma-informed in your approach.
- Must hold a full and clean UK driving licence.
