An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Horticulturist Estate Manager to oversee a small team at a stunning private estate in South Essex. The owners are looking to work closely with an experienced multi-skilled Manager to maintain and develop the beautiful private estate gardens throughout the seasons.

Applications are sought from qualified professionals only with a passion for horticulture, possessing a wealth of experience in managing private estate gardens to the highest standard. An excellent salary package is offered in return for a hands-on commitment to the gardens, attention to detail and a positive friendly character.

Experience:

  • A minimum three years experience of managing private estate gardens
  • Competence in the operation and basic maintenance of a wide range of garden machinery is essential, as is good plant knowledge and that of seasonal garden management
  • Experience with plant propagation, correct species-specific pruning techniques (young trees, vegetables, fruit trees etc.)
  • Identification and treatment of plant pests and diseases, lawn care (scarifying, aerating, seeding, weed/feed application etc.)
  • The ability and willingness to carry out other associated estate/maintenance duties as and when required
  • Ability to work independently and managing a small team
  • Spray certificates (PA1/6) Chainsaw license (CS30/31) are desirable but not essential
  • A full UK driving licence is required for this role
