We are seeking a proactive Technical Product Specialist with a development background to act as the bridge between commercial objectives and technical execution. This role is central to scaling a portfolio of digital products and services, supporting the growth of a fast-paced, event-driven business.
About the Role
You will operate as a key connector across a complex ecosystem of third-party tools and platforms, ensuring seamless integration and performance. Projects span a wide range of systems including registration platforms, CMS and email service providers, streaming services, membership and loyalty programmes, live data feeds, rankings systems, mobile applications, and more.
Working closely with a Digital Product Manager, you will contribute to the product roadmap, translating high-level business needs into clear technical requirements. You will collaborate with third-party developers and external stakeholders to scope, test, and deliver iterative improvements and new product features. This includes writing technical specifications, maintaining system documentation, contributing to supplier evaluations, and supporting commercial processes such as proposals and RFPs.
You will also play a key role in exploring and implementing emerging technologies, including AI and automation tools, driving internal experimentation and acting as a technical resource across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the product roadmap by translating business requirements into technical solutions
- Collaborate with third-party developers to validate technical approaches and ensure alignment with business goals
- Support the development of digital membership products, including defining technical requirements and coordinating delivery
- Assist with data infrastructure and workflows in collaboration with data teams
- Conduct user research, market analysis, and competitor benchmarking
- Test APIs and define clear technical briefs for implementation
- Lead the adoption of AI and automation tools across the business
- Identify opportunities to improve and optimise existing systems and workflows
- Develop internal prototypes and proof-of-concepts
- Maintain technical documentation and system architecture maps
- Support technical aspects of RFP processes and supplier selection
- Contribute technical input to commercial materials such as proposals and presentations
- Assist with development and optimisation of internal systems and workflows
- Support platform management across websites, CMS, and streaming services
- Assist with email platform setup and automation where required
- At least 2 years’ experience in a technical role (e.g. Developer, Technical Analyst, Solutions Engineer), with an interest in product management
- Strong understanding of full-stack fundamentals, including how front-end, back-end, and databases interact
- Ability to read and work with code, and build small scripts or projects independently
- Formal training in software engineering or computer science (degree, bootcamp, or equivalent)
- Familiarity with web technologies, CMS platforms, and modern architectures (e.g. headless systems)
- Experience with low-code/no-code tools (e.g. Zapier, Make)
- Experience implementing AI tools (e.g. chatbots, automation workflows)
- Working knowledge of SQL (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Experience working with APIs and API testing tools (e.g. Postman)
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS)
- Experience working with live data or streaming platforms
- Familiarity with registration systems, loyalty platforms, or single sign-on (SSO)
- Experience in product research and market analysis
- Background in sports, media, or events industries
- Interest in endurance or participation-based activities
