General duties
The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications.
• Technical assistance of our products and systems generally as follows, both on site and phone / email support: –
As per customer / sales staff requests.
As per received enquiries provided by others.
Consultant specified projects in conjunction with our sales staff.
As per requests from distributors.
To assist other engineers and / or service partners.
Specific tasks
• Provide telephone, email and site support for our systems and products. .
• In the case of GIH products, provide assistance to our spare parts staff to facilitate ordering of the spare parts with the relevant factory.
• This role will require site or customer visits –
To assist sales staff with customer technical support.
Commissioning of our systems and products.
Technical assistance, including troubleshooting, installation / configuration support.
• Liaise with EU factories, Japan and Germany as required.
• Keep an accessible database of technical literature, including, service, technical, spare parts, operational and installation manuals
• Create product technical comparisons as required.
• Attend external training as required e.g. factory or elsewhere.
• Complete questionnaires in the research and development of new products.
• Assist keeping the training rooms and equipment up to date with new models.
• Assist with training videos, ideas, material and taking part.
• Process and investigate returned units and accessories / spare parts, including troubleshooting on refrigerant circuit or electronic circuit, by completing diagnostic work and building rigs.
• Rework and inspect units at our warehouses.
• Know how to safely handle all hazardous substances, including, refrigerant, oil and cleaning chemicals, disposing of them correctly.
• Any other reasonable tasks the company requires you to undertake. Prepared: August 2024
Knowledge / experience required for this role
Time served refrigeration / air conditioning apprenticeship or similar with appropriate NVQ, City and Guilds and F-Gas qualifications – category 1 level qualified
Experience of DX systems in general e.g., 1:1 splits, Multi splits, VRF. Knowledge of, troubleshooting, installation and maintenance procedures are required.
Experience with Applied type products (chillers, ATW HP’s, Rooftops, AHU’s, FCU’s and Close Control systems e.g., in general, troubleshooting, commissioning, installation and maintenance.
Ability to use manufacturers software for commissioning, service and troubleshooting.
Have a basic or higher-level knowledge of electrics e.g., power supplies, cable sizes, MCB sizing and communication cable types.
In-depth knowledge of equipment control systems.
Knowledge of current ERP, F-Gas and EN378 regulations.
Knowledge of building services generally e.g. Ventilation, chilled / hot water
Knowledge of external control systems (BMS) and how they can be interfaced to our equipment.
Be capable of interpreting project drawings, laying out pipe runs for AC systems and calculating refrigerant system charges for VRF systems.
Learn to use DS, Service tool and GIH Chiller, Rooftop, Close Control, FCU and AHU selection software
