Fire Extinguisher Engineer

Location: London Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Competitive (Dependent on Experience)

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire Extinguisher Engineer to join a growing fire safety team covering London and the surrounding areas.

This is a mobile role responsible for servicing, maintaining, installing and commissioning portable fire extinguishers across a wide range of commercial and industrial sites.

The successful candidate will be customer-focused, organised and committed to delivering a high standard of service while ensuring compliance with current British Standards and fire safety legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain portable fire extinguishers in accordance with BS 5306.
  • Install new fire extinguishers and associated fire safety equipment.
  • Carry out site surveys and provide recommendations where required.
  • Identify defective or non-compliant equipment and recommend appropriate remedial works.
  • Complete service reports and certification accurately using electronic job management systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant British Standards and health & safety legislation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through excellent service.
  • Manage vehicle stock and ensure sufficient parts and equipment are available.
  • Participate in an on-call rota where required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience servicing and maintaining portable fire extinguishers.
  • FIA Foundation and/or FETA qualifications (or equivalent) desirable.
  • Good knowledge of BS 5306 standards.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic IT skills for completing electronic reports.

Desirable Experience

  • Fire extinguisher installation.
  • Fire risk assessment awareness.
  • Emergency lighting inspection experience.
  • Fire alarm knowledge.
  • Experience working within commercial, industrial, education or healthcare environments.
