About the Company

We are a Huntingdon-based company specialising in the supply, installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial and commercial generators. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Generator Engineer to join our team.

Role Overview

As a Generator Engineer, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of a wide range of diesel and petrol generators across various client sites. This is a field-based role requiring strong technical knowledge, a proactive attitude, and excellent customer service skills.

Working Hours & Pay

  • Standard Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • Overtime (before 8:00am and after 5:00pm): Paid at 1.5x hourly rate
  • Saturday Work: Paid at 1.5x hourly rate
  • Sunday Work: Paid at 2x hourly rate
  • Standby Allowance: £250 per week (when on rota)

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on generators
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
  • Perform load bank testing and commissioning of new installations
  • Attend breakdown call-outs and provide emergency support when required
  • Complete service reports and maintain accurate records
  • Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations
  • Provide professional and courteous service to customers at all times

Requirements

  • Proven experience working on diesel generators (essential)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
  • Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible approach to overtime and call-out rota

Desirable

  • Experience with major generator brands
  • Knowledge of control systems and switchgear
  • IPAF or PASMA certification (advantageous but not essential)
