The Opportunity
We are supporting a search for a DV Cleared Infrastructure Engineer to join a programme delivering critical infrastructure services within a secure Defence environment. You will be part of a team responsible for implementing and managing infrastructure and network changes across a complex estate. The environment combines Microsoft and Cisco technologies with secure, mission-critical systems where reliability and performance are essential. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, owning change activities, and working closely with operational teams in a high-security environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering infrastructure changes, maintaining stability across the estate, and supporting the wider service delivery team. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and implementing infrastructure and network change activities.
- Administering Windows Server environments including AD, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.
- Supporting Linux environments (Ubuntu / CentOS).
- Working with networking technologies including TCP/IP, load balancing and firewalls.
- Supporting Microsoft stack technologies such as SharePoint, SQL Server, Exchange and Teams.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting storage technologies including SAN, iSCSI, SMB and NetApp.
- Diagnosing and resolving complex incidents while maintaining service availability.
- Supporting Service Desk and second-line teams when escalation is required.
- Producing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and introducing relevant technologies.
Occasional travel to other secure sites may be required.
The Person
You will be a technically capable infrastructure engineer who is comfortable working in secure, operational environments and taking ownership of complex issues.
Essential experience required:
- Strong Windows Server administration experience (2008–2025).
- Deep knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.
- Experience installing and configuring Windows Server and Windows 10/11 environments.
- Good Linux administration skills (Ubuntu / CentOS).
- Knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP and firewall concepts.
Desirable:
- ITIL Foundation certification.
- Experience working within ITIL service management frameworks.
