The Opportunity
We are supporting a search for DV Cleared Cyber Security Engineers to join a programme delivering secure technology services within a highly sensitive Defence environment. Working within a dedicated cyber engineering team, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the security posture of complex systems across multiple sites. The role combines security engineering, operational support and continuous improvement, ensuring systems remain secure while new capabilities are introduced. This position is suited to someone who enjoys working across security tooling, system hardening, vulnerability management and secure architecture, within environments where security is mission critical.
The Role
You will work closely with the Cyber Security Engineering Lead and wider engineering teams to ensure secure system operation and the effective implementation of security controls. Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing and maintaining security tooling and technical controls across programme environments.
- Ensuring systems remain compliant with defined security baselines and policies.
- Developing and maintaining system security baseline documentation.
- Supporting integration with SIEM and protective monitoring platforms.
- Assessing vulnerabilities and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
- Supporting the implementation of secure designs and technical architectures.
- Collaborating with engineers and architects to ensure secure solution delivery.
- Supporting ongoing security test and verification (ST&V) activities.
The Person
You will be an experienced Cyber Security Engineer comfortable operating in complex and highly secure environments, with a broad understanding of enterprise security technologies and frameworks. Essential experience includes:
- Experience implementing defence-in-depth security architectures aligned with frameworks such as CIS, NIST CSF and MOD security standards.
- Hands-on experience implementing preventative and detective security controls.
- Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle within secure delivery environments.
- Experience working within structured delivery methodologies including Agile, DevOps or waterfall.
- Experience assessing vulnerabilities and implementing security mitigation strategies.
- Strong understanding of CIA principles (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability).
- Technical experience across:
- Endpoint protection technologies including malware protection, application control and DLP.
- Microsoft and Linux operating systems in secure environments.
- Virtualisation platforms and network infrastructure components.
- SIEM platforms and protective monitoring solutions.
- Authentication and identity technologies including SAML, LDAP and PKI.
- Network security technologies including firewalls, proxies and boundary protection.
- Experience supporting security infrastructure in hybrid cloud environments.
