This is an opportunity to join a major Defence programme delivering critical technology services within a highly secure environment. They're looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing Agile delivery team focused on secure cloud infrastructure, automation and continuous delivery.
The Role
You'll work within a SAFe Agile SecDevOps environment designing, implementing and supporting scalable AWS infrastructure using modern DevOps and Infrastructure as Code practices. This is a hands-on engineering role with strong focus across automation, CI/CD, cloud-native infrastructure and operational resilience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and managing secure AWS cloud infrastructure
- Building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible
- Developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and related tooling
- Supporting containerised environments using Docker and ECS/EKS technologies
- Implementing monitoring, logging and observability solutions
- Supporting backup, disaster recovery and security best practices
- Working closely with Agile teams across engineering, testing and security
- Troubleshooting complex infrastructure and deployment issues
The Person
You'll be a hands-on DevOps or Cloud Engineer with strong AWS experience and a background supporting secure enterprise environments.
Essential experience includes:
- Strong AWS cloud engineering experience
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Configuration management tooling such as Ansible
- CI/CD tooling including Jenkins, Bamboo or Azure DevOps
- Scripting/automation using Python, Bash or PowerShell
- Experience with containerised solutions and Docker
- Linux administration (RedHat preferred)
Strongly desirable:
- Experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS/ECR, Lambda, IAM, RDS, Route53 and VPC
- Monitoring and logging using CloudWatch
- Experience with Git workflows and branching strategies
- Exposure to networking, load balancing and NGINX
- Knowledge of security, IAM and secrets management practices
- Atlassian tooling experience (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
