Project Planner
Location: Remote with occasional travel to a client site in Hampshire
Duration: 12 Months
Rate: Up to £500 per day (Inside IR35)
Security Clearance: Due to the nature of the programme, candidates must hold active SC clearance as a minimum requirement. Candidates with existing NPPV3 and Home Office SC clearance are strongly preferred. This role cannot support candidates who do not currently hold SC clearance.
The Opportunity: We are supporting a major technology programme within a secure environment and are seeking an experienced Project Planner to join the delivery team. Working alongside Project Managers, Programme Leads and technical teams, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and assuring project schedules across a complex portfolio of work. You'll play a key role in providing accurate planning data, resource forecasts and programme reporting to support successful delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planner with experience in government, defence, policing or other secure environments who enjoys working closely with stakeholders and influencing programme outcomes through effective planning and controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
- Ensure project scope, requirements and deliverables are accurately reflected within plans
- Maintain schedule integrity, including progress updates, forecasting and critical path analysis
- Produce and manage resource forecasts across work packages
- Conduct schedule quality reviews and ensure compliance with planning standards and governance processes
- Support programme reporting through the provision of schedule, roadmap and resource data
- Maintain programme roadmaps and delivery plans
- Update planning artefacts and governance documentation as required
- Work closely with Project Managers and delivery teams to identify dependencies, risks and schedule impacts
- Support monthly reporting cycles and portfolio-level planning activities
- Ensure planning data remains accurate, consistent and aligned with programme objectives
Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a Project Planner, Project Scheduler or Project Controls professional
- Strong understanding of project scheduling methodologies and planning best practice
- Experience developing and maintaining complex project plans within a structured delivery environment
- Resource planning and forecasting experience
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience supporting programme governance and reporting activities
- Ability to analyse project schedules and identify delivery risks, dependencies and opportunities
Desirable Experience:
- Experience working within Defence, Policing, Home Office, Central Government or other secure environments
- Knowledge of project controls, portfolio reporting and programme governance frameworks
- Experience using enterprise planning and resource management tools
- Active Home Office or policing-related clearance
