About the role

Working as part of the Technology Data and Analytics team, the Data Scientist plays a pivotal role in analysing complex data sets and developing machine learning models.

You will work closely with functional teams across the business to uncover insights and deliver data-driven solutions to maximise the value we generate from our data. Your knowledge of data engineering will be essential in ensuring the integrity and accessibility of our data.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage and lead on key strategic data projects and initiatives across the business, including communicating findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
• Lead the development, implementation and optimisation of predictive models across different business areas to turn data in actionable insights.
• Analyse complex datasets, including IoT telemetry, sales and customer service data, to develop new insights and understanding from our digital platforms and connected assets.
• Provide ad hoc analysis to support strategic and tactical initiatives of the business providing the right structure and direction.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure data quality and availability.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data science and engineering.
• Support & mentor more junior members of the team developing on both technical & non-technical skillsets.

Qualifications & Experience:

• BSc in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Data Analyst.
• Proven experience in the design, coding, and deployment of machine learning project pipelines from start to finish.
• Advanced level of experience with Python and SQL.
• Experience with data and machine learning related Python libraries, e.g. NumPy, pandas, SciPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, sklearn, tensorflow
• Familiarity with data visualisation toolsets, e.g. PowerBI .
• Experience with data engineering processes and tools, e.g., ETL processes, data warehousing.
• Experience of working with cloud technologies, ideally Azure.
• Experience with B2B businesses using IoT connected assets would be advantageous.
• Enthusiasm and the ability to drive projects towards completion in a complex business environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
