An established and growing infrastructure organisation is looking to appoint a Senior Tendering Engineer to lead the preparation and delivery of complex HV power and utilities tenders across a portfolio of major projects. Operating within a specialist power division, you will play a key role in securing work across DNO contestable schemes (11–33kV), as well as major infrastructure and energy projects up to 132kV, including Battery Energy Storage (BESS), substations and renewable energy Balance of Plant (BoP) works.
This is a senior position offering real ownership of tenders, working closely with commercial, design and delivery teams to drive successful project wins.
The Role
As a Senior Tendering Engineer, you will take the lead on technically complex bids, managing the full tender lifecycle from initial enquiry through to submission and handover. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the preparation of technical and commercial tender submissions
- Developing detailed cost estimates, programmes and methodologies
- Coordinating input from engineering, design, commercial and delivery teams
- Reviewing tender documentation and identifying risk, opportunity and value engineering solutions
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards (HASAWA, NRSWA, COSHH)
- Supporting client engagement and clarification processes
- Leading internal tender reviews and contributing to bid strategy
- Supporting project handover to delivery teams post-award
You will be working on high-value (£multi-million) infrastructure projects, often within fast-paced and competitive tender environments.
Project Environment
Projects include:
- DNO contestable works (11kV–33kV)
- High Voltage infrastructure up to 132kV
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Substations and grid connection works
- Renewable energy and private network schemes
The business delivers full turnkey packages, including design and civils, providing exposure to the full project lifecycle.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a Senior Tendering Engineer / Bid / Estimating role within power, utilities or infrastructure
- Strong understanding of HV electrical infrastructure (11kV–132kV)
- Experience working on DNO, ICP or private network projects
- Demonstrable experience leading complex, high-value tenders
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify risk and opportunity
- Experience using tools such as MS Project and CAD (desirable)
- Confident communicator, able to coordinate across multiple stakeholders
We are also open to candidates who have progressed from engineering or project backgrounds into tendering, provided they have strong commercial and technical understanding.
