The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) to join a growing commercial team delivering multiple National Grid substation projects across the Midlands and East of England. With 5–6 projects being mobilised simultaneously, this is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of key schemes within a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment.
The Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take a leading role in the commercial management of substation and infrastructure projects, supporting delivery from mobilisation through to completion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full commercial management of projects across their lifecycle
- Leading on cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Managing subcontractor procurement, administration, and performance
- Handling valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Managing cost-reimbursable project elements
- Supporting project setup, including subcontractor engagement
- Liaising with clients (including National Grid) and internal stakeholders to manage approvals and commercial processes
Projects
- Key project based in Boston, Lincolnshire
- Additional project exposure in Ipswich
- Focus on National Grid substation works (HV / infrastructure)
- Hybrid working with 1–2 days per week on-site
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor (or strong QS ready to step up)
- Background in:
- Utilities / Energy / National Grid
- HV / substation projects
- Civils or infrastructure
- Experience in M&E or complex builds (e.g. data centres) will be considered transferable
