An established infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of a range of civils and infrastructure works from their office in Livingston. The role sits within a growing division delivering high-volume infrastructure projects, typically within programmes valued between £10m–£12m, covering civils and related works across multiple smaller schemes. This opportunity would suit a commercially aware Quantity Surveyor who enjoys cost management and commercial oversight, rather than a heavily site-based project QS role.

The Role

The role focuses primarily on commercial management and financial performance across multiple projects, working closely with the commercial leadership team to ensure works are delivered efficiently and profitably. Responsibilities will include:

  • Commercial management of civils and infrastructure works
  • Cost management and financial performance monitoring
  • Producing Cost Value Reports (CVRs) and commercial reporting
  • Reviewing project costs and ensuring works are priced appropriately
  • Reviewing contract terms and conditions
  • Supporting operational teams with commercial guidance
  • Maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders

This role is primarily office-based with some hybrid flexibility, allowing close collaboration with the wider commercial and operational teams.

Project Environment

The team deliver high-volume infrastructure works, typically across smaller value schemes within larger programmes of work. Projects commonly involve civils and infrastructure elements, including repair and maintenance activities.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, utilities, telecoms or civil engineering environments
  • Strong understanding of commercial reporting and cost management
  • Experience producing CVRs and monitoring project financial performance
  • Ability to review and understand contract terms and conditions
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build internal relationships

Experience within telecoms, utilities or high-volume infrastructure environments would be beneficial but is not essential. This role could also suit a strong QS looking to step into their first Senior QS role in the future.

What’s On Offer

  • £45,000 – £60,000 basic salary
  • Car allowance
  • Pension
  • 25 days holiday
  • Stable pipeline of infrastructure work
  • Opportunity to develop within a growing commercial team
