An established and growing engineering business in Ilkeston is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of mechanical projects across the UK. This role sits within a specialist controls and M&E division delivering projects ranging from £50k to £8m, with a typical project value of £1–2m. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with around 2 years’ experience who is looking to take more ownership of packages within a supportive commercial team.
The Role
As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of elements across multiple projects. Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with cost management and budget control
- Subcontractor procurement and package management
- Valuations and variations
- Supporting CVR processes
- Cost reporting
- Working closely with Project Managers and Engineers
- Supporting final accounts
You will gain exposure to projects from pre-contract through to final account.
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role
- Experience working on mechanical, M&E, LV or MV projects preferred
- Understanding of subcontractor management
- Experience with valuations and variations
- Commercially aware and detail-oriented
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or similar (preferred)
This role would suit someone currently working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Graduate QS ready for the next step.
