Senior Estimator – Power & Renewables – Scotland Location: Scotland Permanent | Full-Time Competitive Salary + Package JL Renewable Solutions is working with a major engineering contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Estimator for its growing Power & Renewables division in Scotland. The business is delivering an expanding portfolio of major HV substation, renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects, creating an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join at an exciting stage of growth. This position will take responsibility for developing and coordinating complex tenders, working across estimating, engineering, procurement, commercial and project delivery teams. Responsibilities As Senior Estimator, you'll be involved throughout the tender lifecycle, including: * Preparing detailed estimates and cost plans for major Power & Renewables projects. * Completing take-offs based on project scopes, drawings and specifications. * Reviewing Electrical Technical Specifications and Employers' Requirements. * Supporting Design & Build tenders across HV substations, wind farms and electrical infrastructure. * Managing and coordinating tender activity across multiple departments. * Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations. * Identifying commercial and technical risks within tender documentation. * Developing pricing strategies and ensuring estimates are accurate and comprehensive. * Preparing technical submissions covering inclusions, exclusions, clarifications and programme requirements. * Managing multiple tenders simultaneously. * Attending tender review and post-tender meetings. * Supporting tender negotiations and clarifications. * Reviewing feedback from submitted bids. * Providing detailed handovers to construction and project teams following successful contract awards. About You The ideal candidate will have: * Strong estimating/tendering experience within Power, Renewables, Utilities, Electrical Engineering or major infrastructure. * Previous experience as an Estimator, Senior Estimator, Electrical Estimator or Tendering Engineer. * Knowledge of HV electrical infrastructure. * Experience of substations, grid connections, wind or wider renewable energy projects highly advantageous. * Strong understanding of the construction/project lifecycle. * Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings and Employers' Requirements. * Experience obtaining and analysing supplier/subcontractor quotations. * Strong commercial awareness. * Excellent attention to detail. * Strong Excel capability. * Ability to identify tender risks and opportunities. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams. A relevant qualification across Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline would be advantageous.
