JL Renewables are supporting a leading infrastructure contractor in the appointment of an experienced Senior Project Planner to support the delivery of major power and energy projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business with a strong pipeline of work across transmission, distribution, substations and wider energy infrastructure projects.
The Role
Reporting into the Head of Planning, you will play a key role in the development, management and delivery of project programmes across complex energy projects. You will work closely with operational, commercial and project delivery teams to develop robust programmes, monitor project performance and provide strategic planning support throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will have experience operating within major infrastructure, power, utilities or EPC project environments and be comfortable managing stakeholder relationships at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain integrated project programmes from tender through to project completion.
- Produce and manage resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules.
- Monitor project performance against programme baselines.
- Undertake schedule risk analysis and programme assurance activities.
- Identify programme risks, opportunities and mitigation strategies.
- Support project teams with planning, sequencing and delivery strategies.
- Produce progress reports, dashboards and project controls information for senior stakeholders.
- Review subcontractor programmes and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Work closely with project managers, commercial teams and operational leadership to drive successful project outcomes.
- Support change management, delay analysis and programme recovery initiatives where required.
- Ensure planning best practice is consistently applied across projects.
Experience Required
- Demonstrable experience within Energy, Power, Utilities, Transmission & Distribution or Major Infrastructure projects.
- Strong planning experience on substations, overhead lines, transmission, distribution or related energy projects.
- Experience using Primavera P6 and associated planning software.
- Strong understanding of project controls, earned value management and performance reporting.
- Experience developing and managing EPC or complex construction programmes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting wider project teams.
Desirable Experience
- National Grid project experience.
- NEC contract knowledge.
- Programme risk analysis and forensic planning experience.
- Previous leadership or line management experience.
- Experience working within Tier 1 contractor, consultancy or major infrastructure environments.
