Overview
Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, this role has overall responsibility for Safety, Quality, Equipment, throughput, cost, delivery and personnel. The role will take direction from the Business Unit Manager on plant priorities to meet the targets in line with business needs. In addition, the role will be responsible for the identification of performance improvement plans, including Zero Harm, Zero Defects, Productivity and OEE.
- Safety: Is accountable for Leading HSE compliance, including area specific Zero Harm Boards and Risk Reduction activities. Is accountable for their own compliance to meet the requirements of the Leadership scorecard.
- Quality: Is accountable for Zero Defects Programs, including process control, standard work and reduced variation for plant.
- Throughput: Is accountable for the Lines and Rates, On-Time to Schedule and customer requirements to support the Weekly Production Plan.
- Staffing: Accountable for staffing levels, flexibility, Training and absence management to support Weekly Production Plan.
- Daily work plans: Accountable for execution of daily work plans.
- Daily Flex: Is accountable for the plant P&L.
- Cost: Will manage expenditure for department within agreed budget.
Experience
Demonstrable experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment preferably in aerospace. Demonstrable experience and exposure to a union environment would be advantageous. Demonstrable experience in managing people (development and managing performance), managing information (effective budget control and communication activities), managing activities (prioritising activities, continuous improvement activities) and managing systems (including knowledge of ISO****, OSHA***** and ISO*****).
Additional Skills
Must be able to demonstrate a range of leadership skills such as delegation, coaching and support while able to interpret and challenge traditional behaviours and practices. Will be an effective leader and act in a manner that maintains a positive and productive work environment with customers, clients, co-workers and suppliers. Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels are essential. Working knowledge of Continuous improvements methodology and appropriate coaching and teaching skills are an advantage. A willingness to be trained to a Green Belt standard in Lean Six Sigma.
