A leading UK bank is seeking a senior real estate finance lawyer to join its Origination & Structuring team in a high-impact, front-office role. This is a commercially driven, quasi-legal position that sits outside the traditional legal function, offering the opportunity to shape and lead complex transactions while acting as the principal legal authority within the business line.
You will lead a small, high-performing team and play a central role in structuring, negotiating, and executing sophisticated real estate and credit transactions across a broad platform.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the senior legal lead within the Origination & Structuring team, partnering directly with deal originators and credit teams

- Lead on private credit, credit fund financing, and third-party backed lending structures
- Provide strategic input on transaction structuring, risk allocation, and documentation approach
- Drive negotiations with borrowers, sponsors, and external counsel
- Oversee and manage a team of three, ensuring high-quality delivery and commercial focus
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders including risk, credit, and portfolio management

- Experience across private credit, fund financing, or structured lending is highly desirable
- Proven leadership experience, ideally managing or mentoring a team
- Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Commercial mindset with the confidence to step beyond a purely legal advisory role
This is a rare opportunity to step into a hybrid legal-commercial leadership role within a major banking platform. You will be at the forefront of deal-making, shaping transactions rather than simply advising on them, with significant visibility and influence across the business.
