Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Birmingham for a bricklaying gang working on a variety of residential and commercial projects.

Day-to-day responsibilities include laying bricks and blocks to specification, constructing and repairing walls, foundations, and other structural elements, and carrying out stonework and general masonry tasks.

The team will mix and apply cement and mortar, perform renovation work on existing structures, and ensure all work meets company quality standards and building regulations.

The role also involves reading and interpreting plans, collaborating with site managers and other trades, maintaining a safe and tidy work area, and meeting agreed project timelines.

Qualifications

  • Strong practical skills in brickwork and masonry, with experience in constructing and repairing structural and decorative elements.
  • Ability to work confidently with cement and mortar, including mixing, application, and finishing to a high standard.
  • Experience in renovation work, including repairs, refurbishments, and improvements to existing brick and stone structures.
  • Competence in stonework, including cutting, laying, and finishing stone in line with project specifications.
  • Relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeships in bricklaying or masonry, or equivalent on-site experience.
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices on construction sites and commitment to safe working methods.
  • Ability to read and follow drawings and specifications, with strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a coordinated bricklaying gang.
