Role Purpose: The Services and Solutions Data Specialist will deploy the Medical Device value offering to drive profitable market share with strategic customers. The individual will be responsible for supporting the Service and Solutions team as they tailor and implement our value offering, namely Clinical Transformation, Theatre Efficiency & Patient Pathway programmes. The incumbent will have strong expertise in data manipulation and analysis and practical experience in supporting such programmes in a wide range of settings.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • To lead information support to value deployments in associated accounts.
  • Production of data specifications to meet project requirements.
  • Liaise with hospital information staff to ensure clear understanding of requests and delivery of data.
  • Dashboard construction to support project management.
  • Build data flows to support projects.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure that data is removed in accordance with retention periods.
  • Handle relationship with benchmarking organisations as required by the business.
  • Partner with commercial colleagues to deliver the Services and Solutions Information Strategy for UK/Ire.
  • Accountability for reporting progress against key performance indicators aligned to annual objectives.
  • Develop team leadership in specific value capability as per business requirements - IE. Process excellence, coding, and informatics etc.
  • Mentoring and supporting Services and Solutions Staff on information issues.

Skills and competencies required:

  • Experienced knowledge of NHS data sources such as Hospital Episode Statistics and SUS.
  • An in-depth understanding of reimbursement in the NHS.
  • A working understanding of the operative pathways in a hospital (surgical environment).
  • Analytical skills with ability to use Statistical Tools such as RStudio or SPSS to return meaningful results from data.
  • Detailed knowledge of data warehousing software such as Microsoft SQL ability to lead own server and write complex queries to merge and join datasets.
  • Excellent knowledge of dashboarding tools such as PowerBI, Qlik or Tableau with ability to build customized dashboards to meet internal and external requirements.
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite, including Excel to an advanced level.
  • Ability to conceive and construct a dataset to support a diagnostic or implementation project and implement an informative and illustrative dashboard based on this data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and lead effectively in a team and individually.
  • Exceptional internal and external communicator.
  • Report writing to an executive audience in all formats.
  • Ability to think and plan and deliver on commitments.
  • Solid project management orientation with the ability to prioritise and manage complex list of project parts to completion.
  • Ability to successfully engage with clinical & non-clinical stakeholders on operational matters.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional matrix to successfully deliver objectives to time and budget.

Developmental Skills:

  • Knowledge of data flow tools, such as SSDT.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft PowerApps and app construction.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Flow.
  • Knowledge of other programming languages such as Python or VBA.

Education & Experience Required:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Mathematics, Healthcare Analytics, Computer Science or other related numerical field.
  • Expertise in Healthcare Information particularly efficiency measures of core healthcare services.
  • Essential Languages: High level English fluency.
