About the role: We are recruiting a Medical Advisor Oncology to join our cross-functional Therapy Area team. In this role, you will help deliver value through high-quality medical input and leadership to strategy and activities, ultimately benefiting patients, Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and the NHS. You’ll be a key partner to the wider Therapy Area team (extended CVT), contributing medical insights, scientific support and customer engagement to drive the medical plan and oncology priorities.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain deep expertise in related therapy area in oncology, staying up to date with clinical and scientific advances through actively engaging with key clinicians and academics.
- Gather and translate field insights to inform medical strategy and evidence generation.
- Contribute to local evidence generation strategy by identifying data gaps and proposing research initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the local Medical Affairs plan in related therapy areas.
- Lead or support key medical affairs projects (e.g., advisory boards, scientific exchange, medical education programmes).
- Collaborate with Market Access colleagues providing medical expertise on Health Technology Appraisal submission(s).
- Work closely with Commercial, Regulatory, and Global/EMEA teams to ensure aligned strategy and execution.
- Ensure all activities comply with ABPI Code of Practice and company policies.
- Act as medical reviewer/final signatory (if qualified), ensuring scientific accuracy and balance.
Qualifications:
- GMC registered physician or Pharmacist with UK registration.
- PhD in oncology, immunology, molecular biology, or related discipline.
- MSc with significant experience in Oncology Medical Affairs in pharmaceutical industry.
- Other relevant healthcare qualifications combined with substantial Oncology Medical Affairs experience.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- Proven experience in Medical Affairs or related roles.
- Strong project management skills and demonstrated experiences in leading clinical/scientific programs with a high degree of autonomy.
- Good understanding of ABPI Code of Practice.
- Experience in evidence generation, data interpretation, and scientific communication.
- Ability to learn quickly, build and maintain relationships.
Preferred:
- Experience as a Medical Advisor in lung, colorectal, or head and neck cancer preferred.
- ABPI Code of Practice Final Signatory status and experience supporting Health Technology Appraisal Submissions.
